The name Parry's is named after a foreigner called Thomas Parry who a Celtic man was doing wood furniture commercial business and set up the EID Parry company in the year of 1787. Several partnerships followed and this becomes Parry & Co in 1819. Nevertheless Thomas Parry was keep on looking for new prospects and in the year of 1805 parry established San Thome which is considered as the first industry started at Chennai.

Thomas Parry bought a land and garden house (presently Leith Castle) diagonally the way from high court and later developed as an office of parry and lane. Later on this garden house is expanded to export military leather ware. As years move, Parry & Co business unit is considered as a second largest business unit in India for uninterrupted business. Parry died because of Cholera near Cuddalore in 1824.Where he was buried Parry's was considered as the well established place in Chennai. The corporate headquarters was stand on the corner and this company is famous for commercial banking, trading and also a major hub for intracity and intercity bus service. But at present the intercity bus service is transferred to Koyambedu.

Also Tanjore paintings, Kerala and Ajantha murals, glass paintings. Candle works are seen here. It's really amazing and fantastic to roam around the NSC Bose road. It will take approximately 1 hour to reach Parry's corner from Beach Road. Sowcarpet is considered as a mini north India. There are so many shops to purchase chudidhars, salwars, sarees, etc., but we should bargain for each and every thing. Then only we will find benefit.
