With her great skills even in the young age, Jayashri twitched her musical journey as a toddler under the guidance of her parents Smt. Seetha and Sri. Subramaniam. No one can progress without the help of the Guru. Everyone will have a Guru in order to lift them up in their life. In the same way Bombay Jayashri was also given great support by her Guru. Her first guru was Smt. T R Balamani after her parents. Jayashri's turned out be the disciple of the most legendary carnatic musician – Lalgudi G Jayaraman in the year 1989. Since 1989, she has been under the guidance and tutelage of the renowned violin maestro. Jayashri learnt Veena as well from G.N.Dhandapani Iyer.

She was well groomed in Hindustani music by Sri Mahavir Jaipurvule and Sri Ajay Pohanakar for almost half a dozen years in the same field of utilizing the maximum and the best of the Hindustani music from her gurus. In the year 1982, she began her vast performing concerts all over the country and also throughout the world spanning around 20 different countries. Jayashri has composed music for several albums, dance opera and even a television film. Her Jugalbhandis are popular too. Jayashri's one pride to be held on is that; she has lent voice for Dr.Abdul Kaalam's autobiography – WINGS OF FIRE. She is much sought after playback singing and her limited foray into playback singing in the film industry has made almost all her songs terrible hit numbers.
