Early Life and inception of Playback singer Shreya Goshal


Shreya Goshal was born on the 12th of March in a Bengali Hindu family in Durgapur, West Bengal. She was nurtured in a small town in Rajasthan called Kota. She belonged to a high profile academic family background. Her father Mr. B Goshal works for Bhaba Atomic Research Centre as a nuclear power plant Engineer and her mother being a post graduate literature graduate. Since age 4, she started on to play with the harmonium along with her mother and got herself classically trained in Hindustani music in Kota with Mr.Maheshchandra Sharma.

As a child, young singer Shreye Goshal won the children's special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest on Zee TV. Kalyanji who had been one of the judges of a panel of other judges advised her parents to make a move to Mumbai where she could be trained in a better way for her interest towards music was immortal. Well supported by her family, she got trained under Kalyanji for almost a year and continued her classical music trained in Kota.

She made her schooling at the Atomic Energy Central Schools (AECS) at Rawatbhata and at Mumbai. After graduation she signed up at the SIES College.

Shreya entered into the star world of play back singing as she came as the top competing candidate in the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest and she won it as well where she had been called by the music director Ismail Darbar for the second time under the adult section. A break in her career came when she was offered a chance to be the voice of Paro, the lead female role for Aishwarya Rai in the Hindi movie – Devdas. She as well sung for 5 songs in the same movie for no surprise she won the Filmfare Award for the best play back singer and the RD Burman Award for the new music talent that is habitual for honoring the upcoming music talents. Bairi Piya also won her the National Award. Since devdas, she had been provide with enormous chances to work under various musicians like Illayaraja, A.R.Rahman, M.M.Keeravani, Shantanu Moitra, Mano Murthy and Pritam.
