History of the Sri Nettikanti Anjaneyaswamy Temple


In 16th century Sri Vyasarayalu was taking bath on the bank of the river Tungabhadra in Humpy kshetram. While he was taking bath he used to draw Anjaneyaswamy picture on a rock with sandal.In this way he used to draw 5-6 times.

At last Sri Vyasarayalu made a Yantra by entering Anjaneyaswamy's dwadasha beejaksharas.Swamy was captured in that Yantra.One night Hanuman appeared in the dream of Sri Vyasaraya and ordered him to arrange His statues and perform poojas.Then Sri Vyasaraya arranged 732 Hanuman statues and performed poojas.

Later once again Hanuman appeared in his dream and informed that He was located in south wards inside the earth.Then Vyasaraya asked Hanuman to inform His exact location.Then Swamy told him that He was located in same village below a dried neem tree.Later Vyasaraya found the statue of Hanuman and constructed the temple.

Specialties of Sri Nettikanti Anjaneyaswamy Temple


Sri Nettikanti Anjaneyaswamy temple is located in Kasapuram village so people call Him as Kasapuram Anjaneyaswamy.

As the original statue came out from Nettikallu He was also called as Nettikanti Anjaneyaswamy. In this temple in north-west there is a pond and those who takes bath in this pond by chanting Sri Rama and do 108 pradakshinas daily upto 41 days, Swamy appears in their dream and inform the salvation to the problems. Swamy's statue in this temple is east faced. Swamy's statue is looking like he is listening to the wishes of people and fulfilling their desires. Devotees gets satisfied by looking at the grand shining of the Swamy's statue.

Meaning of Nettikallu : Netikallu means good stone. Nettikanti means having only one eye. Swamy sees the devotees only with His right eye and fulfill all their wishes.People believes that Swamy appears in their dreams and inform the remedy for their problems.

The temple is 4 kilometers away from Gunthakal town(Railway station). Buses and auto facilities are available to reach this temple.
