Saneeswara Temple is one of the famous temple of Andhra Pradesh. The famous temple of Saneeshwara Bhagwan is one which is situated in a small village called Mandapalli which is about 38 km from Rajamundy, in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. It is also known as Sri Mandeswara Swami Temple and Someswara Temple, that Saturn himself declared this place to be holy representing the linga of Lord Shiva here.

The sons of the demon Aswartha and Pippala made a serious promise to take revenge against the gods and broke a great disorder and confusion in Mandapalli. This small temple has some interesting legends attached that a great and kind and fair sage 'Dhadichi' undertook a great sacrifice of donating his valuable spinal cord for Lord Indra's 'Vajra', for which he can relieve the people from the demon Kartabha by killing him using this weapon.

Touched by the disheartening state of the people, sage Agastya approached Lord Shaneeswar or Saturn, and the Son of God Surya, to kill those demon brothers. Load Saneshwar is also known as the Lord of Dharma (Righteousness).

Shani (Saturn) said that he wouldn't have enough strength to fight and get rid of the demons, till the prayers and penance is completed. However, when sages agreed to give their 'Tapasshakti' (power of penance) to him again he also agreed. Then, the people and the sages from their long tyrannical rule had relieved when he fought and killed the demons. Everybody praised Saturn in many ways and rejoices. Sage Agastya and the other sages blessed him when Saturn established a 'Shiva Linga' known as 'Someswara' or 'Mandeshwara' for the sake of his victory, which is the .
