How to cast vote in MLC elections?


  • At first the voter has to prepare a firm idea about all contestants and have to consider all points.

  • Voters have to take a decision on all contestants in a preferential order and have to vote accordingly.

  • The ballet paper contains the names of all con-testers in the English alphabetical order. Voter has to write '1' in the box appearing straight to the name of the contestant to whom he/she wishes to see as a winner.

  • The voter has to write '2' in the box provided in front of the contestant to whom he/she wishing to vote in the preferential order.

  • Voter can go for voting 3, 4, 5, 6 etc to all contestants according with his/her wish.

  • Voter have to use the pencil given by the electoral official, usage of own pen or pencil is strictly prohibited.

  • Voter has to write in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 the Arabic letters. Usage of Roman letters are not allowed.

  • Voter should not use the tick mark and should not use one, two and three in words.

  • The voter can stop voting just by writing '1' or can go for voting 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. If the voter votes 2, 3 but fails to write '1' then the vote will not be valid. Hence voter has to remember to first give the number one preferential vote.

  • Well by follow the above precautions one can avoid the problem of non- valid votes.

    Counting procedure


    A contestant will be declared as winner on getting votes more than the half of total polled votes. For example a total of 12,000 votes have been polled in a election, hence the content will be declared on getting 60001 votes. In case off ailing to get those votes then votes will be counted in elimination procedure and in preferential order until a candidate can get the votes. Still contestants fail to get 6001 votes then the maximum votes polled contestant will be declared as winner.

    Identity proof required in casting of vote in MLC elections


    The voters have to show the Voter photo identity (EPIC) card during the vote casting of MLC elections. In case of failing to have the EPIC card, the candidates can show any one card from the list of 15 alternative cards during the casting of vote as identity proof. . The cards names are given below.
    Ration card, Aadhaar card, Identity card issued by the state and central government and public limited companies for their employees, Driving license, Government banks and post offices issued Pass-books, PAN card, Passport, ATM card having the photo of the candidate, Arms license card having the photo of the candidate, Photo contained Physically Handicapped card, pension documents having the photo of the candidate, Identity card of Freedom fighters, Pattadhar pass-book, Propriety ownership patta's having the photo of the candidate, and RGI smart card.
