1. Dargah Sharif


The main attraction of Ajmer is Dargah sharif. It is the tomb(Dargah) of Khawaja Moin-ud-din Chisti who came from Persia. This place is a famous pilgrim for Muslims but people from all religions come here to get blessed with fortune. Tourist from all over the world come here to pay homage to Khwaja Garib. It is open from 4 A.M to late night. The best time to visit dargah is Urs festival. At this time of year it is open 24 hours a day for the visitors. Both, from religious as well as social point of view, Dargah Sharif is a great place to visit. This is the number one attraction in Ajmer

2.Taragarh


The Taragarh fort is situated three kilometers from the Dargah Sharif on the mountain. The fort was built by Ajaipal Chauhan, the founder of Ajmer. The fort was used for military activities during Mughal times and was later used as a sanatorium by the British.

The best time to visit the fort is in the morning or afternoon in the summer. Vehicles are available to reach the top for a price of around 500. But if you really want to enjoy the tour, then you must hike the mountain. There are stairs to reach the top. You will not get bored as so many Muslims pilgrims go up the hill to a Dargah on top of it. There are may small shops all around the stairs selling flowers, some food items like tea and coffee and various other. Once you reach the top you are able to see the panoramic view of the city with the Foy Sagar Lake and Ana Sagar Lake is really a memorable moment. 3. Nasiyan jain temple


The Nasiyan jain temple is second best tourist attraction of Ajmer .The temple is located on Prithvi Raj Marg.The temple is in walking distance from the Lohagarh fort.

This temple is dedicated to the first Jain Thirthankara Rishab Deo Ji. The temple is decorated with gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones. There is a museum within the temple. The work done in gold and silver has to be seen through a transparent wall. Its celestial ceiling and the world with numerous figures are fabulous. Anyone visiting Ajmer must visit this place.

4. Puskar Lake


This lake is in Pushkar and surrounded by mountains from three sides. According to the history, Pushkar was the place selected by lord Bramha ,who was looking for a peaceful place for 'Yagya'. It is said that a Lotus flower fell down from his hand on this hill, where the Pushkar Lake was create. Therefore the Bramha temple situated here is a famous pilgrimage for Hindus. It is a custom to take bath in Pushkar lake to get free from sins. Millions of people come to take bath in the lake every year. It is also a famous shopping spot for tourists' .The famous Pushkar fair and Camel race is also organized here every year.


5.Akbar Palace


This fort was built by Akbar in 1570. One who is interested in Mughal History should not miss this palace. Now there is also a museum in the palace. This is the place where prince Jehangir was born. The museum exhibits include old weapons, miniature paintings, ancient rock paintings and stone sculptures. For students of history it's a reality of what they saw in their books. It hardly takes one hour to see whole museum .Among exhibits there are photos of interesting places in Ajmer. It is located in the Naya bazaar which is at a walking distance from Dhargah Sharif and comes in middle of the Dargah and the Ana sagar lake.


6.Ana Sagar Lake


Ana sagar is an artificial lake which was created by making a dam over the river Luni which is the only river of Western Rajasthan. There are two parks situated on its bank named Daulat Bagh and Subhash Bagh. Both the parks have beautiful marble pavilions that were erected by Mughal king Shah Jahan. There is an island in the center of the lake known as Tourist's Island which can be accessed by boats and water scooter. Both of them can be hired on rental basis. Whole Ajmer city is situated around Ana lake.


7.Adhai-din ka Jhonpra


Adhai-din ka Jhonpra is at a walking distance from the Dargah Sharif towards the Taragarh fort. It is a nice place for the lovers of history. It is believed that its construction took just 2 and 1/2 days and hence its name. Others believe it was named after a festival that lasted for 2 and 1/2 days. Those who are interested in archaeology and architecture must see this piece of architecture.


8. Ajmer government museum


Ajmer government museum is one of the best places to see the history of Ajmer. The Ajmer Government Museum is located in the famous Lohagarh Fort.
There is an art gallery in museum where one can get to see the amazing paintings on things like leaves of the peepal trees, mica and even old litho papers. There is a armor section which contain different guns used by the rulers of Rajasthan along with the miniature canons which dates back to 18th century.

9. Mahila Mandi


Ajmer is a famous tourist place but it is also a famous shopping destination for tourists. One of the most famous and visited shopping areas of Ajmer is Mahila Mandi. As the name suggests, this shopping area is exclusively for women. Mahila Mandi in Ajmer is known for attracting tourist from around the world. The wide variety of items that are found in the shops here include antiques, tie and dye items, trinkets, embroidered shoes, handmade table cloths, traditional clothes and perfumes.
