SOS Children's Village Guwahati


There are three SOS Children's village in the state. It is a non governmental organisation which helps the orphans to live a comfortable life in this world. This article will give some information about the SOS village situated at Guwahati.

About SOS Village


SOS Children's Village is an independent non- governmental social organisation. The organisation works with the spirit of the United Nation's convention on the rights of the child. It is a pioneering institute of family approach to the long term care of orphaned and abandoned children.

Guwahati SOS Children's Village


It is located near Guwahati Airport and was established in 1989 after the ethnic violence of Assam. The construction of the village was started on April 1987 and was completed on November 1989. The village covers an area of 8.3 acres. There are 16 family homes along with one computer lab, one community hall, one community house, co workers house in the village. Adjacent to community hall is a kindergarten school, medical room and a small children's library. For the youngsters there is a separate house called Arunodaya which was constructed on 1994.
