Holy Mani Mahesh journey begins in Chamba district and end at the Dal Lake in Mani Mahesh which is about 100 km from Chamba. This journery begins in the month of July and continues for the beginning of the September month. This journey begins from the Chamba's historical ground and ends at the Mani Mahesh which was the living place of the Lord Shiva's. Here we are talking about the history of the journey, how to reach and what are the main things which you remember when you came to this journey.

History of the Mani Mahesh Journey

This is one of the oldest and religious journey of the state, it was firstly stated in the mid-19th century. There are so many places comes when you go on this journey, it is about 100 km journey in which last 15 km you have to go walk on the mountains, because there is no road facility for this places.

When this journey firstly begins than it is started from the historical ground of Chmaba district, where so many peoples stays for the night and sings the local song and on the next morning they go to the Bharmaur and stay for the night. This place is basically famous for the Chaurasi temple which was one of the oldest and religious temples of the state. After that in the next morning they go and stay in the "Danchau" and after in the next day they finally reach the Mani Mahesh.

In the early morning peoples bathed in the Dal Lakes on the corner. This lake is covered with snow so don't go to middle of the lake. After that they came back to Bharmaur and stay there and next day they came back to the Chamba and enjoy its coming Minjar festival in August.

This place is basically known for the Dal Lake and it is believed that during ancient times Lord Shiva's stays for long time in the mountains of the Mani Mahesh. This Journey begins in the middle of the July month and continues for about 2 months and ended in the September month.

You can also before this but you have taken your food after the Bharmaur because in the way there is no shop. When this Journey begins than free foods are given to the peoples and also free night stays.

How to reach

This journey begins in July in Chamba district. So you have to reach the Chamba district after that you have to go to Bharmaur which is about 65 km from Chamba, there are so many buses are available for this place. After that you have to go walk because there is no road facility for this place. You have to go walk about 14 to 15 km.

Things to remember before go to this place

When you are visiting this place than always some of things which are given below:

Always wear warm clothes and always brings one or two quilt with them, apart from it no other extra things take with you because you have to go walk about 15 km on the mountains. Don't drink alcohols in the night otherwise you may be fined up to 1000 RS.
