Very few residents of Maharashtra are aware that the oldest National Park in the State of Maharashtra is the Tadoba National Park which is located in District Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Together with the Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary, it is part of the Tadoba-Andahari Tiger Reserve.
The name Tadoba is acquired from the local God named Taru, while the name Andhari refers to the river by the same name which makes its merry way through the sanctuary. As implied by the name, tigers are the prime attractions at the Tadoba National Park. The tiger is India's national animal and efforts have been made to protect the tiger from becoming extinct. Besides tigers, at the Tadoba National Park Maharashtra you can sight sambar, chital, gaur, wild boars, sloth bears and panthers.
In the midst of numerous water bodies in the Tadoba National Park Maharashtra, there are majestic teak trees, plenty of bamboo, and some fruit trees like Jamun, Mango, Arjun, etc.
