With that statue, Vibhishana goes to the Kaveri bank near Trichy to have bath. As per the words said by Rama to Vibishana, the Vinayaga statue must not be placed down. So, Vibhishana gives the Vinayaga statue to a cowherd boy. But when Vibhishana was fully sunk in the water of Kaveri, the boy dropped the Vinayaga statue on sand and was running.
On seeing the cowherd boy running, Vibhishana got angry and chased that boy to punish him. That boy finally climbed up the rock which is near the bank of Kaveri and got captured into Vibhishana. Anger Vibhishana hot that cowherd boy on his forehand. Soon after got hit, that boy got the shape of Vinayaga. Soon after knowing that boy is the lord Vinayaga, begged his apology to Vinayaga and with reference to this story, the Ucchi pillayar temple was built.
The Ucchi pillayar temple was built by the Pallavas whi were the ancient people of Tamilnadu.
