Introduction
The first question asked about Vastu shastra is that 'Why should one follow Vastu Shastra?'Another question arises 'Does Vastu Shastra have any scientific base? 'The answer is simple. One should follow Vastu in order to lead a Healthy and Wealthy life. These are the two things highly desirable by a human. The answer to the second question is that Vastu does have a very strong scientific base. In fact, it is the scientific study that uses the forces of nature and the static directions in a balanced manner to remove all sorts of negativity from our lives. If we take care of three things while making our homes, which are- choosing the right plot, planning the interior and planning the exterior according to vastu, nobody can stop us from excelling in every field of life.
Let's have a glance at the eight different directions to understand this article more clearly. They are North, South, East, West, North-East (NE), North-West (NW), South-East (SE) and South-West (SW). The image below illustrates these directions clearly.
Worship Room
It is best to build the worship room in the North-East corner of the house. The worship room can also be built in the North or East side of the house. The ideal position for worshipping is that the deities (god and goddess) should face west and the worshiper should face east. Another suitable position is that the deities face north and the worshiper faces south. Puja room should always be situated at the ground floor. The door should have two shutters. Toilets should not be built just above the Worship room.Living Room
North is the best side to build a Living or sitting room according to Vastu Shastra. There is also no problem to build it in the North-West, North-East or East side of the house. Furniture in the living room should be square or rectangular and not oval or round.Kitchen
The kitchen should be in the South-East corner of the house. The windows should be on the east and south side. It is best to cook while facing east. Cooking can be done facing north also. If it is not possible to build the kitchen in the South-East corner then it can also be located in the North-West corner. The door of the kitchen should not be directly in front of the door of a toilet. The south-East corner should be used for electrical items such as grinder and sink should be in North-East. Storage should be done in North-West.Dining Room
The dining Room can be on the West, East or North side of the house. One should face East or west while eating. If all the members eat together, the head of the family should face East and other members can face any direction except South. Kitchen and dining room should be on the same floor.Bathroom/Toilet
Bathrooms or Toilets should be located on the West or North-West. corner. The north-East corner is the place of gods and goddesses so one should avoid building a toilet in this corner. Master Bedroom
Best position for Master Bedroom is South-West corner. One should sleep facing East or South. Sleeping Facing North is not considered good.Children's Bedroom
It is best to build a Children's Bedroom in the North-West or west. The child who is the youngest can also use a bedroom on the East side of the house. Newly married couples should not use Bedroom located in East.Guest Room
The guest Room should be in the North-West corner. It can also be on the East side.Safe Room
The North side is the side of Kubera who is considered to be the god of wealth. Therefore, it is best to locate Safe room on the North side of the building. The doors of the Safe Room should face North or East. Safe can be kept in South, South-West or West. There should be a gap of a few inches between the safe and the wall. Safe should never be placed in North-East, South-West or South-East. It should open towards North or east but the opening of safe towards South will bring loss of money.Study Room
Study Room should be located on the west side of the house. It should never be situated in the corners of the house. Books should be kept in East, West or North side of the room. It is best to face East or North while studying. If one has to study in a bedroom, he should use the East side.Store Room
Storage area should ideally be in the North-West of the building. Cabinets should be situated in the West or North side of the room. The door should never be in the South-West.
