How to make Bengali Doi Ilish


Doi Ilish is a preparation of fish named Hilsha with curd.

For 4-8 person

Ingredients



Hilsha (Ilish): 8 piece

Ginger (paste): 100 grams

Turmeric Powder: 1 small spoon

Mustard (seed): 1 small spoon

Curd (sour): 500 gram

Green chilies: 5

Ghee: 3 table spoon

Sugar: 1 small spoon

Salt: According to taste or 2-3 small spoon

Water: 2-3 cups

Preparation



1. Marinate the fish with turmeric powder and little ginger paste and keep it in a round tiffin box. Keep it covered.
2. Now add water in a pressure cooker and put that tiffin box in this pressure cooker and boiled it for 8-10 minutes.
3. Now in a separate bowl take curd (sour), rest of the ginger paste, sugar, 3 sliced green chilies, and some salt and mix it well.
4. Now take out boiled fish from the tiffin box and add this into that curd paste and covered it.
5. Now heat a pan and add ghee into it.
6. Add mustard seed into the heated ghee. When the mustard seed will burst, add chopped green chilies into it.
7. Then add that mixture of fish and curd into it. Cook it and mix it in low flame for 3-5 minutes.
8. Put the flame off and keep the preparation covered for an hour.

Serve it with hot rice or pulao.
