Once upon a time, the city of joy, Kolkata turned into a city of grief. People in the lower strata of the society were getting murdered. Everyone suspected a serial killer behind these acts. These murders were committed according to the versus in Bengali poetry. Strangely, he placed the versus of the poetry beside the victim's dead body. This left the Kolkata Police Department and the Special Investigating Team of CID completely clueless.

Long time ago in West Bengal, all the prominent writers of the society protested against the corrupted government through their writings. Those writings were never published and were intentionally labelled as abusive. But the writers continued with their protest. That period is known as "Hunger Revolution". There was also a fire outbreak in the Kolkata Book Fair, which was caused by a one of the writers of the Hunger Revolution, Nibaron Chakraborty.

Unable to solve the mystery, the Police Department sought help of a suspended cop (Probir Roy Chowdhury), who is known for his strong network and information of all types of criminals. He is also known for his ill-temper, ruthless behavior and foul mouth. The ex-cop along with the lead detective (Abhijit Pakrashi) worked togather to solve the murder mystery. They discovered that the date on which the murder took place corresponds to the death date of the respective poet. Soon, their attention was drawn toward Nibaron. He is an eccentric poet, who was always addressing "Rabindranath", and was also responsible for the fire at Kolkata Book Fair. The crossword puzzle was solved easily when Nibaron committed suicide leaving behind a poem which confesses his involvement in the four murders. The case was closed.

Just when you thought that the mystery was solved, comes the real twist. One more date was missed, the death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, "Baishe Srabon". This date will reveal the true identity of the murderer.

The film has got positive reviews from all the critics. Anandabazar Patrika rated it as 8.5 out of 10. IMDB (Internet Movie Database) rated it as 7.9 out of 10. Times Of India rated it as 4 out of 5. Baishe Srabon was official selection at the Dubai International Film Festival 2011 and closing film at the London Indian Film Festival 2012. It is the biggest blockbuster of the year and has won 35 awards.
