Childhood & parents



Syed Mustafa Siraj was born, Khoshbaspur, a small village of Mursidabad. He born on 14th October, 1930. Siraj from a literary family. He was grew up with strong educational background. There were various books and familiarity with several languages including Arabic, Persian and also Sanskrit. His mother Anwara Begam, was an wellknown poem writer. From his child he could enjoy literature from his heart.

Syed Mustafa Siraj's Young life



From his young life he involved with politics. He was active with the folk drama group Aalkaap for six years (1950-1956), where he played the falte and was a teacher of folk dance and drama. He traveled all over the West Bengal. He visit many rural areas of Bengal and know about that place and its economy. He performed in the district of Mursidabad, Malda, Burdwan and also in Kolkata. In those day, he performed whole night and sleep during the day.

Enter on literature



After thinking that he had a wider life spreading around him.He turned to writing poetry and short stories. After his this new life, he came Kolkata and wrote more. Became he famous for his short stories. Some famous short stories are 'Intipisi o Ghatbabu', 'Hizal Biler Rakhalera', 'Taranginir Chokh' etc. This stores brought him fame.
For several years he joint for an Journalist.
He wrote around 150 novels and 300 short stories. His first novel is 'Neel Gharer Nati (1966) '. This novel about a village girl, who forced into the profession by this father. His one of the most importan novel is, 'Mythical Man(Aleek Manush). This novel had won the Sahitya Academic Award (1994), the Bankim Puraskar. It has been translated into eleven Indian languages. His novel, Amartya Pream Khota, had won Narasimha Dash Memorial Award.
Various of Siraj's novels were filmed. Some of this are, ''Nishimrigaya'' and 'Krishna Baring Fereni'.
'Trinabhumi', 'Kingbadantir Nayak' were also translate into all major Indian languages.

Detective Story of Mustafa Siraj



He wrote many detective story. One of the most favourite story is 'Goenda Colonel'. He create the character, Nilardri Sarkar, an ex-colonel. This story increase his fan mainly children are like this type stories.

The end of life



Bharat has lost its voice. As Syed Mustafa Siraj passed away, 4th September, 2012 after a brief illness in Kolkata. He is no more among us. But his memory and creation is as fresh as due in our mind.
