As per the meaning of a guru in sanskrit, one who removes the darkness of mind(knowledge) in a student. Gu means darkness Ru means remover.
A Good teacher is one who teaches his disciples whatever he knows.

Hi,

Teachers not only impart knowledge but also discipline the students.Students spend most of their day in schools and colleges and teachers are the one who they interact with most of the time.

A teacher should create interest in the minds of the students for the subject they teach. For example: if a student hates math, the teacher should try to explain the theory in a very simple manner and create interest in the subject.

Further, in this hi-tech world , knowledge achieved from the text book is not sufficient. The students are well-informed as they continuously surf on the net and get loads of information.

I would say teachers of this generation should be tech savvy .
It is very difficult to handle the high school and college students as they are very sensitive and some times rigid.

Therefore, a teacher should have loads and loads of patience to deal with the students of this hi-tech era.

My appreciation to the author who tried the best to bring in good qualities required for the best teacher. But what I feel that not all teachers are successful in their field or job. In this regard I want to highlight the efforts put in by the mother teachers of Kinder Garten section. Those mother teachers have to spend their precious time with those children who are fresh from the their mother lap and being with them and make them understand things takes great time and hard work. Good mother teachers will make best students in future and thus those students who pick up in initial classes shall remain top, thanks to the effort of mother teacher.
