Crisp Bread Rolls Recipe

This recipe has a quick preparation time , which my mother used to make for me. Love it!

Ingredients:(For 8 Pcs)

Sandwich Bread slices - 8
Boiled Potatoes (large) -2
Green Peas Boiled - 50 gms
Coriander Finely chopped
Chilly Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Chaat Masala - Pinch
Jeera - Pinch
Salt - to taste
Dice of Lemon (Optional)
Flour (Maida) or Corn Flour 50 gms
Bread crumbs (preparation given below)
Sauce to accompany.

Preparation of Filling:(You may use filling of different types if you Like)
Mash the Potatoes in a Small bowl, add Boiled Green peas and slightly mash them, add Finely chopped coriander, Chilly powder, Turmeric Powder, Jeera, Chaat Masala and Salt in proportions to match your taste, so it tastes really spicy. Mix the filling dough well. Those who live it tangy may add a few drops of lemon juice from the dice and keep aside to marinate.

Preparation for the Rolls:
Cut the Brown crisp borders of the Bread slices on all four sides. (You may crush these sides and use them to create fried bread crumbs which you will require to garnish the Rolls.)

Take a shallow dish and pour some water into it. Quickly soak each de-bordered Bread slices into this water,(Taking care not to allow it to soak too much) squeeze out the extra water between the Palm of your hands, and lay them on a Flat Board. (This same procedure will have to be repeated for each slice before filling the yummy filling), so do this for all the slices just before putting in the filling.

Final preparation of Bread Rolls:
Keep a non stick semi shallow frying pan on the gas on Medium Gas, with just enough oil to deep fry the rolls.(We will need to Golden Fry the rolls, so keep the gas under control)

Take each wet and de-watered slice and lay it on a board. Put in enough filling, so that you can slowly Roll the Bread into a neat roll, and also leave some space at the side where you can fold in the open edges so as not to allow the filling to come out. (If you have wet the bread nicely it is very easy to tuck in the edges). Ensure that the edges are also neatly pressed into the lower layer.

(Optional for those who would like the rolls look rough and grainy)
When the oil is ready to fry the Rolls quickly roll the ready rolls into a plate with the Flour to give it a smooth finish. Carefully lower the rolls in the Frying pan constantly turning the rolls so that they are evenly fried to Golden Brown. When done drain them on a Oil paper or Tissue paper.

Serving:
Lay out the Fried Hot rolls into a serving plate, and Garnish with Bread Crumbs, Finely Chopped Coriander, and Serve with a Sauce of your liking. (Hot and Sour Tomato Sauce is most preferred)

These Rolls can be prepared with a variety of fillings, and Garnishing of your choice, and I am sure they will be a big hit at your parties, and even with your children at home! Enjoy and have great time!
