Verkadalai Thuvayal (Groundnut Chutney)is the usual sidedish for breakfast dishes like upma, pongal, pesarattu, dosa, idli and vada preferred by the tamilians.

Ingredients required for making Tamil recipe Verkadalai Thuvayal (Groundnut Chutney)


Groundnut - 1 cup
Tamarind - lemon size
Small onions - 5
Coriander leaves - a few
Ginger - small piece
Garlic - 3 cloves
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Red chillies - 4-6
Salt to taste

Method for making Tamil recipe Verkadalai Thuvayal (Groundnut Chutney)


1. Fry onions, ginger, garlic, chillies and curry leaves in oil.

2. Cool and add this in a mixer along with groundnuts and tamarind and run the mixie till it is ground well.

3. Season this with mustard seeds and curry leaves.

This chutney is good for diabetic patients because it does not contain coconut.
