Arasu Cable TV Scheme


This Scheme was introduced by Ms.Jayalaitha,Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and and Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited(ACTCL) was established under Companies Act,1956 on October 4th 2007. As an initial step High Quality Digital Ends were established at the main districts of Tamil Nadu like Coimbatore,Thanjavur,Tirunelveli and Vellore with Control Rooms for surveillance and also installed in the districts of Madurai and Tiruchirappalli without Control Rooms. Till July 2008 the Arasu cable Tv was available with 50,000 connections.And after the change of the Government presided by Dr. Karunanithi, ex- Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu the plan was dropped and the number of nodes available for providing the cable services got reduced to 432 in number. Then the company that was formed to control the Arasu Cable TV was made to close due to some political reasons.

Now the rule again came for Ms. J.Jayalalitha and so the Arasu cable tamilnadu scheme got its Birth again.

Already there were High quality digital Ends established in 4 districts and now the remaining districts were connected with the cable links.

  • Arasu Cable TV is available at Rs. 70/- monthly pay for the people of Tamil Nadu and this is affordable easily by the People of almost all the classes.
  • The Channels provided by this scheme has a count of about 90 Channels and this is more than enough when compared to other private networks.
  • This will be available as an uninterrupted 24 hour service.
  • By this Scheme many unemployed persons can get employed.
  • As a result of this 34,344 Operators have got the job.

  • The Arau Cable TV was first introduced in Vellore, Tamil Nadu by Ms. J. Jayalalitha in Vellore by means of Video Conferencing on 2.9.2011 at 12.10 pm.

    Now the Cable is provided with the 1.45 Crore Connections available with the Cable Operators. As an initial Step the Government is going to provide the free Channels now. Some paid channels like Sun TV, Raj TV, Vijay TV, Discovery Tamil, Zee TV will be made available soon.
