Information About Indian Government Passport:

Regular Passport:

Official Passport:

Other than these three categories, passports are issued for authorized issues like:
Indo-Bangladesh Passports.
Indo-Sri Lankan Passports.
Indian National Residents in West Bengal, North- Eastern States, Tamilnadu and Pondicherry. These passports provide authorized authority to travel to Srilanka and Bangladesh countries alone.

Types Of Passport:


Indian government issues two types of passport for the people to acquire their passports easily, they are :

Normal :
It is applied by the citizen to get your passport in a normal period of time. This will be issued to you in 40 to 50 days of time by the government.
Tatkal:
This is used by the citizen to apply passport in a short period of time for urgent travel to other countries. The passport will be issued in a time period of te to fifteen days. But more documents have to be submitted than normal type of passport.

Passport Procedure And Documents Have To Be Submitted:


Norms And Conditions For Types Of Passport:
For a citizen who lives in India who wants to apply for normal passport type should provide the following documents listed below:
For Address Proof:
You must provide at least two proofs to prove that you stay in the country India and you are a normal citizen of India. If you submit bill or any bank statements you need to provide at least one year records of that proof.
Ration Card.
Electricity Bill.
Income Tax Assessment.
Electoral Photo Id Card(Voters ID).
Spouse / Parents passport copy.
Water Bill.
Bank Statement and Passbook. (should be govt bank).
For Date Of Birth Proof:
If you were born after the year 1988 you have to provide the birth certificate for proof or else birth certificate is not needed. The documents needed for birth proof:
Birth Certificate.
Degree or school leaving certificate.
Affidavit from magistrate.
For ECR And Non- ECR Category:
ECR stands for Emigration check Required and Non- ECR stands for Emigration not required. This is kept to check and protect the Indian citizens who go abroad to work and for other purposes. This also checks the exploitation of Indian workers around the world. The following people are eligible for Non- ECR category:
1)You should be a government official or should be spouse/children of a government official. If you are, then you have to provide anyone of the following documents:
Identity Card.
Spouse ID card:
Marriage Certificate.
Parents ID Card:
School certificates.
2)You should have passed matriculation or above. If you are then you have to provide anyone document
school leaving / graduation certificate.
3)All Senior Citizens who is above the age of 50 years. They have to provide anyone of the following documents:
Birth Certificate from Municipality.
School leaving certificates.
Affidavit from magistrate.
4)All children's below the age of 18 years are eligible. They have to provide the following documents:
Birth Certificate issued by the municipality.
5)All income tax payers are permitted in this category. Anyone of the document is required:
Income tax assessment's of you or your spouse.
Pan card.
6)All citizens who stay in abroad for 3 years and their spouses are allowed. Anyone of the documents:
Passport copy
Certificate proving the spouse relation.
Note:
Those who are not eligible for Non- ECR category belongs to ECR category these citizens have to get a affidavit from the magistrate before traveling to any country. This will be asked for ECR category people in the airport by security officers.
Normal Category:
For normal any one of the document valid by government of India can be submitted for proof of address, identity and for NON- ECR category.
Tatkal Category:
For Tatkal you have to submit two proofs issued by the government of India for proof of address, identity and one for NON-ECR category.

Register Yourself
Click Apply on line
Select category-> Normal/ Tatkal
Fill correct valid details
upload the on line submission form
upload scanned copies of original documents.
Submit the on line form.
Step-2
Goto Locate Passport seva kendra
Select nearest Location of passport office
Fix appointment.
Check the date
Visit the passport office with the copy of your appointment sheet and original and xerox copies of original documents.

Tips To Follow To Avoid Tension:


Go to the passport office on appointed date and time prior to one hour before itself.
Take all the original copies with you to show for reference and get it back safely.
Take two xerox copies of original documents correctly for producing there for reference.
Your address should be same without a single letter mistake in the proof you are going to submit. If single letter or number is missing you will not be allowed to the next counter and your application will be rejected.
Your name should be same in the proof you submit without a single letter mistake.
If you are married and your marriage date falls in the year 2009 and above you have to bring the registered marriage certificate from the government of Tamilnadu. If your marriage is before 2009 you can submit government affidavit and your marriage photo.
If you were born after 1988 you have to submit birth certificate. Before 1988 born does not have to submit its optional.
