What ails India foreign policy?

India's foreign policy does not have the elements of professionalism. This question is vexing India whether the next government will also continue with the loose foreign policies of Bajpayee and Manmohan governments. This critique is of the view that the foundation of a compromising nature of element was laid down during the tenure of Bajpayee (1999-2004). Manmohan Singh simply treaded on this line. The legacy of weakness of our foreign policy forms the subject of this discussion.

The anger that grips India after Pakistan recent attacks is aggravated more by the weak response of and issuing of irrelevant statement by India government. People of India know this well that Pakistan government and the army there; treating itself to be the real government of Pakistan will miss no opportunity to hit India without any compunction. The main Jehadi policy of Pakistan against India is the 'stance of denial mode'. Attack first and then deny involvement later is the old operational tactics adopted by Pakistan since the partition. Keeping India engaged in peace talk process and put covers on matters and begin preparing for the next attack is what Pakistan has been doing for long. Enough of peace talks has taken place. Pakistan needs handling with iron gloves now. Nobody has any doubt in this policy, but the political class of India is so corrupt and compromising that it has no time for any matter except serving own interests.

Indian politicians always self centered

Indian leaders are forever alert for serving their interests. This is known to all they are always concerned for themselves, then for the party and national interests never interest them. Nation moves by God's will if you call it to be moving at all. However, this is not called a nation on the move. If these people's representatives devote 1/4rth of their time rising above their own self centric mentality in attending to the national problems, the nation would have never been in such a truss. The economy is today in dole drum. Danger is hovering over the national security. Frustration and depression is pervasive everywhere you throw your glances on.

India's compromising approach to its foreign affairs

We must not forget that the bricks of this surrendering attitude toward the foreign police was laid down during Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji's times. His period lasted from 1999 to 2004. Weak prime ministers have run the nation almost after the independence. The most weakest and wavering has been Manmohan Singh. Credit of giving india the legacy of Kashmir and China imbroglios goes to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. Indira Gandhi lost the esteems of excellent victory in 1971 war in Shimla agreement. However, Atal Bihari has altered the Pakistan policy the most than any other prime ministers. Vajpayees's dilly dallying approach on Pakistan has established the inherent weakness in India's Pakistan policy. Not merely this, Vajpayee also wasted the Tibet card during his visit to Beijing. Enough of peace talks has taken place. Pakistan needs handling with iron gloves now.

State of foreign affairs during Vappayee's regime

During the period of Vajpayee, the flavor of India foreign policy had grown personal in place of professional. Due to his ever shifting outlook towards Pakistan, the incidents of Lahore, Kargil, Kandahar, Agra and Parliament attack had happened. Despite all these happenings, he undertook the journey to Islamabad as the prime minister. Due to the reason of Agra summit that had culminated in military , Parvej Musharraf, who had fallen wayward in the international had been able to make a come back into the mainstream. Before this, bating on the lives of Indian jawans in huge numbers, Vajpayee fought the Kargil war only from the Indian Territory. He did obey the rules dictated by the enemies. He reversed the principle of Lal Bahadur Shastri while doing so. Shastri had said if Pakistan opens flanks in Kashmir, India should start war in other areas including Sindh. In this respect, the fundamental strength of China Foreign policy makes an interesting story.

Operation 'Parakram'-2002

Under the 'Operation Parakram' scheme of things, the Indian Defense Forces were kept on high preparedness and ready to strike on Pakistan borders for almost 10 months, so that Pakistan could be pressurized to dismantle the terror structure on its soils. However, without achieving goals, Vajpayee suddenly closed this self-weakening show. Such an incident has never happened in world history. Later on, the Navy chief declared this exercise was the most punishing volte-face for the Indian Armed Forces ever committed before by any nation of the world. Worse than this has been that Vajpayee became overwhelmed with a mere promise of Pakistan on a piece of paper during the course of his Islamabad visit that it would not permit terror outfits on its soils. Musharraf also gave similar types of assurances in 2002 before the beginning of 'Operation Parakram'. It did not take much time for the Vajpayee & Company to corrupt the power. This is the good fortune of India that the nuclear test was successfully carried out within six months of Vajpayee's coming in power. Had those crucial six months elapsed by, nuclear test would never have happened. The declaration of do or die of Vajpayee was nothing but a veil to hide his own inner weaknesses. Had Vajpayee never adopted the policy of peace, his successor Manmohan Singh would never have gotten the political space for Pakistan-Pacification.

Why Pakistan is getting bolder by the day

In fact, the loose policy of Vajpayee emboldened Manmohan Sigh so tread on the paths of wobbly policy vis-a vis Pakistan. For this reason alone, Pakistan is moving ahead boldly without fears. This is nothing but the mistake of Manmohan Singh that despite attacks by China and Pakistan, the meeting and talking process has been taken as the last solution. The extraordinary attraction of Manmohan Singh towards Pakistan is very much akin to Vajpayee's peace aspirations with this rogue country. Nations pays the price for giving Manmohan Singh a second term. The tenures of Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh would be remembered by the posterity for the increasing corruption in life. Whenever scams hog headlines, talks of peace process with Pakistan is taken recourse to for deflecting attentions from the ever surfacing up frauds played with the nation. During the regimes of both, the role of son-in-laws has surfaced up in form of national corruption and loot.

Sad plight of India's foreign ministry

Since last one decade, the foreign ministry has been kept elbowed out from the foreign policy formulation processes. Now this ministry is no more than the foreign pacification ministry. Manmohan Singh has crossed all limits in pacifying Pakistan. He defended Pakistan- the exporter of terrorism to be itself the victim of terrorism in Havana in 2006 and talked of creating the dreaded anti terror system. Manmohan Singh played in the hands of Pakistan after three years in the City of Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt where he was attending a summit by owning the role of India in stoking the fire of revolts in Baluchistan. This blunder resulted into Pakistan raising its accusing fingers against India on the international platforms calling it responsible for spreading terrorism.

Enveloping

This question is vexing the nation whether the next government will also follow in the foot steps of Manmohan and Vajpayee in matters of its foreign policy. Instead of dictating its own terms to Pakistan, India is giving Pakistan the opportunity to initiate. Whenever Pakistan attacks India, India retaliates with inaction.
